The Great Hopper Haul Event

On a beautiful September day the Vermont Garden Railway Society held the Great Hopper Haul on the Camel's Hump Scenic Railway at the home of Dave and Becky Cozzens in Huntington. Folks arrived early with hoppers cars in hand. A total of ninety-seven cars arrived. We started out with 2 engines and about 15 cars and then began adding from there. In the end we had 5 engines and 44 hoppers cars.  We pretty much maxed out the power supply by that time with a train that covered about half the length of the layout. Anyway, it sure was fun.

Live Steam: running, locomotives, upgrades

Picture
A number of VGRS members enjoy running trains powered by real steam. These locomotives are often fired by butane and operated just like the real thing.
